Environment A new view on environmental issues conveys new opportunities. To work for an improved environment is one of today's major challenges. The realisation that our present attitude towards nature is not sustainable in the long run is changing the values in society. Consciousness about the environment is increasing and the view on how companies are affecting the environment is changing. As a result of the new view on environmental issues, the government is no longer the only part making demands on companies. Ever-increasing pressure groups in the environmental area are customers and consumers, but other parties, such as credit facilities, insurance companies and employees, are also showing an interest in the environmental conscience of companies. Companies that use a serious approach towards the environmental issues, and in a systematically manner tries to reduce its negative impact on the environment, has a lot to gain. E.g. Competitive advantages, improved relations with customers, reduced costs and of course diminished impact on the environment. For that reason, Svalson AB has implemented an environmental management system according to the international standard ISO 14001. The system was certified by SEMKO-DEKRA on October 18, 2001. Environmental Policy Svalson AB is manufacturing and selling high-quality electrically sliding windows. Our objective is to minimise the detrimental effect that our activities has on the environment, and to achieve continuously improvements, by: Reducing the consumption of energy, raw materials and natural resources. Increased reuse and recycling of surplus materials generated by our activities, and to reduce the amount of waste. Reducing the risk of spreading hazardous materials to air, ground and water. The means for meeting this objective is: A well-functioning environmental management system that fulfils the requirements of ISO 14001. Current legislation, its statutes and other requirements. A safe and sound place of work where our employees are educated and enthused to achieve a high level of competence in the environmental area. To make demands on suppliers and contractors associated with our activities to achieve smallest possible environmental impact. Cooperation and communication between our interested parties on the topic of our efforts for a better environment. To perform environmental impact assessments when developing technology, products and activities.
