The small community of Öjebyn in the pastoral splendour of Norrbotten County on the banks of River Pite is where we have our plant. The climate in this northernmost county of Sweden varies widely with the seasons of the year. The summers are mild and pleasant, and the midnight sun enables us to enjoy daylight around the clock. So it's not all that strange that Norrbotten County has Sweden's highest number of annual sunshine hours. The winters are cold and snowy, with the snow cover varying from a few tens of centimetres at the coast, up to several metres in the highlands. On a clear winter's night, you may have the good fortune to witness the glory of the Northern Lights. This surging, constantly changing, multi-coloured light spectacle is one of the most fascinating phenomena you are ever likely to see in the sky. If you wish to know more about the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), the Swedish Institute of Space Physics in Kiruna has all the answers.
